OUR SPORTS & OTHER ACTIVITIES
SPORTS DAY - COMPULSORY
Our Sports Day takes place every year on a Saturday morning in June. This is a compulsory school event as all our pupils (Gr R to Gr 3) participate in the races that are run during the morning. It is held on a Saturday morning so that as many of our parents can attend as possible. It is a fun morning with the emphasis being on team participation and spirit. Our parents also participate with their children in very enjoyable fun relays.
BIG WALK - COMPULSORY
Our Big Walk is a fundraising event that takes place on a Saturday morning each May. This is compulsory for all our Learners but it is also a fun-filled event for the whole family. The walk is approximately 2,5km long and the route is along the beautiful beach of Ansteys to Cave Rock and back to the school.
FUNDRAISING
Like all schools, fundraising is a very necessary part of school life. We endeavour to choose events that are educational as well as sociable and fun for Parents and Learners. We rely on the Fundraising Committee and the whole school community for support in the projects we choose. We are always looking for ways in which we can improve our facilities which will benefit the Learners. Our Fundraising committee, which consists of Parents and Educators, meets 2/3 times per term to plan events and decide where the money should be used. If you feel that you are able to help in any way, please contact the Secretary on 031-4670400.
LOOLNIES (Ladies Of Our Lady of Natal) - Staff Charity
The staff at Our Lady of Natal believe in practising what they preach about charity. One of the ways we do this is through our LOOLNIES Fridays. We select a "dress-up" theme to wear on the last Friday of every month. Each member of staff has to pay R10 for this "privilege" and anyone who fails to dress according to the theme is fined R20. This is usually a lot of fun with the children and teachers enjoying the strange outfits that sometimes have to be worn. The money collected is then sent to one of our favourite charities.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
We have a strong Community Outreach Programme at Our Lady of Natal. We believe that the Learners are taught a valuable lesson in being aware of those less fortunate. Our aim is to have different collections every month and to support local organizations as far as possible. Collections each month run for approximately one week starting from the 25th of each month.
BAKING (PRE-PRIMARY ONLY)
Baking activities are done as an extension of the themes the children are learning about. There is an annual cost of R60.00 for baking expenses to be paid with the first month's school fees
BIRTHDAY RINGS (PRE-PRIMARY ONLY)
Parents are invited to join the child's group for the early morning greeting ring 8:00am - 8:30am on the child's birthday. Please supply cake or fairy cakes for your child's group. The teachers will contact you prior to birthday ring.
MOMS-IN-TOUCH
All Mothers are welcome to attend the "Moms-In-Touch" Interdenominational Prayer meeting every Tuesday morning from 8am to 9am at the Pre-Primary School.
THURSDAY MOMS
Mothers meet every Thursday at the school, work together on projects and repairs, and enjoy a chat and coffee together. We invite new Moms to join.
